The company's founder Nigel Gifford OBE Frgs has over 30 year's experience of expedition planning and exploration. He was a county coordinator for Operation Raleigh, a Council member and leader for the British Schools Exploration Society, and has lectured at the Royal Geographical Society on expedition topics for the annual 'Explore' programmes since their inception by the Expedition Advisory Centre.

The Exploration Co continues to expand its horizons for schools and colleges, operating expeditions to popular destinations such as Kenya, Tanzania, Costa Rica and Iceland and are now at the forefront of providing new and exciting expeditions, community projects and other adventures into emerging destinations not previously considered by the eager traveller.

With our extensive range of destinations and experience in operating high quality adventures worldwide, together with our many long standing relationships with operators from the arctic regions, to the equator and beyond, The Exploration Co delivers diverse expeditions to the youth sector.

A school expedition can be a life changing experience and one that students will remember for a very long time. It will give them the opportunity to experience and learn about themselves and the world in which they live, and help them to understand their own capabilities and those of the people around them. Students will have the chance to grow and learn in a very different culture and environment from the one they are used to enabling them to experience and appreciate new countries whilst still having the time of their life.

Travel, new environments, different cultures, hard work, contributing to worthwhile projects and exciting adventures will all be challenges that students will rise to while developing key life skills.

We limit ourselves to planning and delivering a maximum of 12 expeditions each year. This allows us to provide top quality leaders, facilities, logistics, and support staff with the skills and experience to run an unforgettable expedition. We are also ATOL bonded to protect our clients and their funds.

This wise indigenous North American chieftain who lived in the early 1800s is largely forgotten, and so in many parts of the world is such wisdom.

The Exploration Co believes strongly in responsible travel and therefore split large groups in order to minimise the impact or size of their 'footprint' in any one country. We also ensure that any of our Community or Environmental projects undertaken will improve the quality of life and be of benefit for those in that community and that they are sustainable for the future.
